Hi there

I leave copies of my incoming messages on the POP3 server for 10 days so
that Outlook downloads incoming mail to both of my home-networked machines.

I'd like to synchronize between the two machines too (particularly Sent
Items, since I send mail from both machines). Is the article KB205229
"OL2000: (IMO) Managing a PST for Two Different Computers" the final word on
the subject? -- The procedure outlined in that article is a bit clunky.

Best regards
Loane

See if anything here helps: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm

If you want to try something completely unsupported, post back here and I'll
describe it for you or you can use Google Groups to locate my prior postings
on the subect. Search for my name and the words "network share" and "PST".

Hi B, thanks for your suggestions

I downloaded a trial of OsaSync and will check this out for a few days. It's
not looking good, though: I've got a mail sitting in PC#1's inbox that
stubbornly refuses to be found by an OsaSync operation on PC#2. (I could
keep copies of the e-mails on the POP3 server, as I was doing before, but
I'm not happy that OsaSync didn't find this particular e-mail.) I might try
out Easy2Sync and EZOutlookSync in time ...

I found your post on Google Groups and this sounds like the best option to
me. Am I correct in understanding that this is a client/server-type
arrangement? - and, if so, how will I be able to check mails when the client
computer isn't connected to the network? (I mean, there is now a single PST
file residing in a shared folder on the "server".)

Best regards

Not specifically. Outlook is at all times and in all configurations a
client/server arrangement. Where the message store resides has no bearing
on that. The client is Outlook. The server is Exchange, a POP/SMTP server,
an IMAP/SMTP server, or a WebDAV (HTTP) server.

check mails when the client computer isn't connected to the network?

It should be fairly obvious that if you are not connected to your mail
server (the server mentioned in your account properties), then you can get
no new mail nor can you send messages. However, you will be able to view
and manipulate anything contained within your PST, since it's local to your
machines: truly local to one of them and on the local network for the other
and that local network should exist whether or not you're connected to your
ISP.
