Synchronising outlook over a LAN

All I want to do is to sync my notebook and PC over a lan. I have a PDA and
there are hundreds of programs (some free) which can do this easily so, are
there any to do the same on a laptop/PC? which is the best? ANY FREE ??

It did dawn on me about the PDA route but in my innocency I thought that
after, how many years is it now? Microsoft may have figured this one out
themselves and included a sync tool. I should have known better.

Off I go to install my PDA software on my lappy.
