This seems like a common-enough situation, I'm hoping
someone has an easy solution. However, if there's NOT an
easy solution, I have a Plan B question as well.
I have a desktop (Win98, Outlook Express 6) which I use
most of the time. I recently acquired a laptop (WinXP,
Outlook 2002) to use when I travel. Initially, I used the
Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to move all (or most
of) my email messages to the laptop, including the Sent
folder. While I was traveling, I set the laptop to "leave
a copy of messages on the server", which provided me with
a copy of Inbox messages on both laptop and desktop.
However, I know of no way to copy the messages that I sent
while I was traveling (i.e. the laptop's Sent folder) to
the desktop's Sent folder.
(1) Is there a general way to synch up the contents of all
Outlook folders (or preferably, just the ones I choose)
between two machines? How do people with desktops and
laptops handle this situation?
(2) If there's no easy way to do (1) above, I am prepared
to abandon the desktop, and just use the laptop for both
purposes (it's a better machine anyway). In this instance,
what's the best way to migrate the contents of the
desktop's Sent folder to the laptop's Sent folder, WITHOUT
duplicating all the messages that are already there? (I
have been using the desktop for several weeks since I came
off the road, so there are some messages in the desktop's
Sent folder that are NOT in the laptop's Sent folder.)I
guess this would be sort of a "merge and purge"
functionality (i.e. "copy all messages, but don't make
another copy of messages that are already on the target.")
Your assistance is appreciated!
