Just upgrade my OS from Window ME to XP, I reinstall the
Norton Anti-virus 2004 but found that the liveupdate not
working, seems it cannot access
the 'securityresponse.symantec.com' website, is there
anything I need to setup in the firewall to make it work?

Hi - I'm experiencing a similar problem; Live Update works
on start-up (0 x 65 status) but as soon as it tries again
after the default 5 minutes has elapsed I get a 0 x 80
report which Symantec says is a lack of a password. Well,
I don't have a password set up in XP as I'm the only user,
and it worked just fine until ~March 28th! I can manually
Live Update as well, but I've gotten kind of used to the
automatic 4-hour checkup running...

I think Symantec has screwed something up here!

I have the same problem after installing windows XP to a computer with ME. I recently had a virus and bought Norton (Symantec) Antivirus. I didn't have any problems getting the virus fixed but I have never been able to do a liveupdate to my Antivirus software. Is this a firewall problem or can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this problem. I'm not able to go to their web site either in serch of tech support

Symantec, Trend, and McAfee have online scanners - assuming you can get
to any of those sites. A virus, trojan, or spyware may block you
getting there because they know those sites and their products will kill
them. You could also try getting Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis, and
CWshredder to check for spyware.

If the problem is not getting to Symantec's web site (but only to some
tech support portion of it), see if you can download the newest
LiveUpdate program from there
(ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/liveupdate/lusetup.exe)
..

If you *just* bought Norton Anti-Virus, seems like you should be calling
their tech support telephone number.
