I just bought a new notebook that came with XP Home. But,
I purchased XP Professional for my old PC. Can I put XP
Professional on my new PC and Home on my old PC. Is that
allowed?

Thanks

No. The copy of XP Home on your laptop , since it came with it,
is an OEM version. The license for an OEM version ties it
permanently to the first computer it's installed on. It can *not*
be moved to another computer.

The copy of XP Home you have on your notebook is a pre-installed OEM
copy and probably would not work at all on your old PC. Besides, the
license agreement (EULA) doesn't allow you to legally move it.

You can certainly try to install the retail Pro version on your
notebook, but you may have problems since notebook computers are
usually propriertary requiring select drivers for hardware. I would
leave well enough alone.
