switching from explorer to outlook

I am using outlook express for my email. I would like to use microsoft
outlook, but I cannot send or receive email through outlook. All of my email
get directed to outlook express. How can I make microsoft oulook my primary
medium for email usage?
 
Set Outlook as the default client here Control Panel || Internet Options ||
Program Tab, you could also take out the email account in Outlook Express.

If you don't run Outlook Express, it can't download any mail.
