switching between windows

One of the cool new functions for Vista was enabling a new option for
switching between windows. By pressing the button near the bottom left corner
of the tool bar, all windows would shrink back into this diagonal file-like
form allowing the user to quickly chose which window to work in. For some
reason, the option disappeared from my computer. Instead, my Vista reverted
back to the XP-style of showing a bunch of icons and allowing the user to tab
between. How can I get the new Vista style back?
