Swapping hard drives

I have two hard disks, the first (4.8)has XP loaded and i would like to swap it to my second(12.6) and reformat the first. Is this possible or do I have to reinstall XP on the second, larger disk?
 
Set the new HDD as slave and transfer the system from the master to slave
using HDD utilities - most HDD makers have such utilities available on their
websites. Follow the instructions provided with the utilities to change the
slave to master after transfer.
