Ensure that you have the correct language loaded for your keyboard.. in
CONTROL PANEL, look for Regional and Language.. it can be set from in
there..

my keys have done the same affter a syestem re in stalllaten.i think you need
to look in system restore if poss restore to a time when your keys wer ok

A system restore may be a little over the top at this point.. best to check
language set..

ok mike,i tried what you suggested but unfortunatley it didnt work. the
language is set for english. any other ideas? and i have had to re install
windows completly too.

There's at least two places that need to be checked in Regional and
Language Options:

Regional Options page: this one is obvious as it's on the first page of
this control panel applet. The next one is a little more hidden...

Languages page: Click Details. In the middle section (Installed Services)
of the screen that appears, scroll down to Keyboard and select preferred
language here as well.

My keyboard is set to English too, but the options for English are many..
there is UK, US, English Canada, all kinds

When you get to the Regional/Languages window, you click on the Languages
tab and then the 'details' button.. there, you will find the options that I
have mentioned and many more..
