SVCHOST grabs focus multiple times

Hi

When I start up my PC, and connect to my broadband
connection, the first thing I do is download my email.
When the Send/Receive process is complete, and while I'm
reading my email, the focus from the MS Outlook window is
lost and given to something else, many times. I started
Task Manager and sorted by CPU usage, and noticed SVCHOST
is the culprit. It does this 5 or 6 times and then stops.

I first thought it may have been something to do with the
recent Blaster worm, but I've downloaded the MS patch for
this and removed any trace of it from my PC.

So does anyone know of the causes of these symptoms?

I also get the same problems when connecting the office
network LAN connection.

Many thanks
Andrew

Hi Mike

Appreciate that link but unfortunately it doesn't
enlighten me any. The svchost app seems to be grabbing
focus temporarily each time a connection to the network is
requested...that's the main issue I have with it...more
annoying than causing system problems.

Cheers
Andrew

Svchost is a means of running a wide range of services. Several may
have interest in network connections. If this is only a transient when
you connect I would not bother *too* much - but one possibility is
automatic update going out to check if there are new updates, or
something like the Indexing search going to do likewise

Yes, but shouldn't svchost be running in the background, not grabbing
screen focus?
