I recently installed Windows XP (clean install).
Everythign seemed great then suddenly the processor was
pegged @ 100% and it is the svchost.exe causing the
problem. So I uninstalled just about everythign I
installed to see if this would cure it. But to no
avail. My next step I think is to uninstall all the
service packs and the recomened updates. If anyone has
any other ideas I'm desperate and wll try anythign I
don't feel like backing this thing up, formating and
reinstalling again. Thanks

Do you have any communications intensive tray applications
or services installed. If so, unload thes from the
configuration tool (msconfig). Some adware, or spyware put a
heavy demand on the processor time to download new ads.I
suggest you use adaware or similar utilities to delete any
adware/spyware on the drive. Also if you are on broadband
connection, that can alone cause a heavy load on processor
time, specifically on a low memory system (under 512mb).
