I have 5 Svchost.exe running. One of them trys to access
the internet over and over again. I have my connection
displayed in the task bar and they (Local and internet)
are always solid on!!!!.
The one Svchost.exe (PID 816 MEM usage 17,000k) is the
problem. When I turn it off the my connection frees up.
The problem is that my sound card controls stop working.
By this I mean my computer still plays sound but when I
click on volume control it says "There are no active
mixer devices installed" When I open sound in control
panel it says "NO audio devices" When I go to device
manager is says that my devices are working properly. I
have no viruses or spy ware installed because I have done
a complete format and reinstalled windows xp. The
problem still existed.

My sound card is Creative sound blaster x Gamer.
The thing is I turn off my fire wall and let Svchost
access the net and it still keeps doing it over and over.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Is it trying to access the internet when you're not
trying to? If it is, then it's normal. It's just a system
file doing the actual work for you.

If it's trying to connect when you're just sitting there
looking at your computer, then you might have a virus or
spyware/adware.

Make sure your Anti-Virus software is up to date and that
you have Ad-Aware (www.lavasoftusa.com) and Spybot
Search&Destroy (www.safer-networking.org).

Hope this helps,
