svchost.exe using too much RAM

hi, I'm running windows xp home and was recently taunted by a .scr message
opening up. ever since then there is an extra svchost.exe process using
around 20-25mb of RAM. I have a P4 2.60C Ghz Processor with an ASUS P4800S
Motherboard and 512 Mb of RAM. This however is slowing the computer and
unexpectedly closes some games while i am playing them. If you can help I'd
very much appreciate it.
 
I know its not much help, I have 5 instances of svhosts running - one of the
system versions uses 19M.

Get Process Explorer (http://www.sysinternals.com/), which will show
you easily what services this mysterious svchost.exe process is
running. Also, it will show you what components it contains, and the
manufacturer of each.

Check for spyware - get Spybot S&D and HijackThis, and help from SWI
