I recently was prevented from accessing a website from a
link due an error, as reported by IE. Upon getting a
report of the error, I was advised that I should
uninstall a program named "CleverIEHooker." Does anyone
know if this is a malicious program? I use McAfee, and
their VirusScan did not identify it as causing infected
files. I also did a DOS scan, per McAfee's
recommendation and did not find any infected files.

Any help is appreciated.

First.
Right click the IE icon | Properties | Advanced tab |
Make sure both of these are NOT checked.

Second.
It is known as Scumware. Visit these sites. 1, 2, 3 and 4 are really good.
Download, install, run, update and run again; one or all. They are all
good, FREE utilities.
The first site gives some recommendations.

SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever
being installed.

Just my advice for future reference...

*Anytime* you are asked to allow installation of *any* software/plug-in for
which you have not specifically asked (by click or search)...

*Always* assume spyware/trojan and *do not* allow installation. Regardless of
how cryptic and/or helpful the filename or other text might sound.

Just my $0.02...
