SUS Server / Update Client will not install on Windows XP SP1

Auto Update Client installer WUAU22.msi fails to install
on Windows XP SP1. There is an error message saying that
Windows 2000 SP2 or Windows XP are required to run it.

The client already exists in XP Sp1.
