Is SUS in the SP2 Tech Preview? I can't seem to find any relevant components
other than perhaps Windows Update Agent, and I'm assuming that's the standard
XP auto updates thing that isn't going to work on XPe.

Thanks,
Nick

SUS is supported in SP2. It was not included in the shipping documentation
due to licensing restrictions. However it is in the product. For the SP2
launch we will be releasing a white paper that will describe how to
configure SUS in XPE Sp2.

Remember that for SUS, you are responsible for setting up your own Intranet
update server that communicates with the Microsoft Update Server. All
updates downloaded from the MS server must be tested and approved in your
environment. There are additional links at the bottom of this post that
detail how to configre your own SUS server.

Here's a quick overview for adding and configuring SUS for XPE SP2:

Add the following components to your configuration:

Windows Update Agent (visibility 1000)
Windows Update Agent for SUS 1.0 Servers (visibility 200)

SUS is configured via Group Policy settings on your run-time image (or in
your Active Directory environment). For testing purposes, you may want to
add the Group Policy Core Administration MMC Snap-In component as well.

1. From your run-time image, run the Group Policy editor. From a command
line, type:
gpedit.msc

2. Expand Local Computer Policy, then Computer Configuration, then
Administrative Templates, then Windows Components.

3. Select Windows Update. The Windows Update settings appear in the details
pane.

4. Enable Automatic Updates and configure the update schedule:
a.Right-click the Configure Automatic Updates policy and choose Properties.
The Configure Automatic Updates Properties window appears.
b. Select the Enable radio button.
c. Select the type of user notification in the Configure Automatic Updating
drop down list.
d. Select the automatic update schedule. Choose OK when you are finished.

5. Set the hostname or IP address of your intranet update server.
a. Right-click the Specify intranet Microsoft update service location
policy and choose Properties. The Configure Automatic Updates Properties
window appears.
b. Select the Enable radio button and type in the host name or IP address
of your intranet Microsoft update server. Choose OK when you are finished.

6. Review the additional group policy settings for Windows Update. Update
the policies as necessary for your environment.

More SUS info is available in these white papers:

Hope this helps!
