Dose anyone know that Microsoft still provides support for MS access
97 or not?

MS does not provide support for A97 any more. However we'd be happy
to assist.

Tony,

Thank you for replying.
How about Access 2002 and 2003?
my clients still use acc 97, so is that better to convert to Access
2003?

Access 97 was probably the most stable version of Access. It had a few
problems that were corrected by Service Releases 1 and 2. There are a number
of new features in versions 2002 and 2003 which make them good upgrades. It
is not necessary to upgrade, but you'll find that the new features, and the
ability to upsize to SQL-Server easier may make it worth your while. I have
clients with many different versions. All of them have their own reasons for
using the versions they have.

There is a product life cycle page where you can take a look yourself.

Why upgrade? If things are running smoothly. Although there are
security patches and such in A2003 as well as some improvements in the
GUI. If you are going to convert then you might as well go to A2003.

There are some limitations in the A2003 runtime compared to previous
versions.

A97 support for mixed character sets (english and
chinese for example) is not as good as in 2000+.

If you aren't doing that, there is no compeling
reason to upgrade the application.

However, sometimes the client wishes to upgrade.

It can be more difficult to install A97.

And for most people, the reason to upgrade is
because they already have 2K, 2K2, 2K3 or 2K7
installed, and don't want to have a second slightly
different copy of Access also.
