Hi,
Is there a tool or an add-in out to find super hidden files?
The only thing I until now have found was here:

http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/790/

But I do not want to manipulate my system this way.

There is no secret to show files and there are no "super-hidden" system
files. The only files that may be "super-hidden" are virus files such
as rootkits and other malware.

To see all hidden files and extensions look at the View tab in Folder
Options. In XP, there are four checkboxes to deal with:

a. Check "Display the contents of system folders".
b. Check "Show hidden files and folders".
c. Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".
d. Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and click "OK" to the
dialog box.

"Disable Windows File Protection" has nothing to do with hidden
system files.

"Show Hidden Operating System Files"

However, there is no need to mess around with the registry. Since you're
posting from Germany, you can set/reset that option easily via
Explorer > Extras > Ordneroptionen > Ansicht > Geschützte Systemdateien
ausblenden.

I am not talking about system files.
For example:
Zonealarm uses a directory C:\Internet Logs
You never will find the directory and the corresponding files in the
Explorer using the methods above.
But a search will do, if you know the exact name.
Funny, isn't it?

I already have found a lot of other items from Norton etc. using the
same method to protect the files and it seems so that disabling the
file protection is the only way to make them visible.

And that's what I am looking for.

On the other hand it would be an interesting question how to make
files invisible. Are there any programs out?

In this case, the folder may be hidden or being set as system folder.
You should tick the options "Inhalte von Systemordnern anzeigen" and
"Versteckte Dateien und Ordner > Alle Dateien und Ordner anzeigen"
within the dialog mentioned above. BTW, you might be better off when
posting to a German WinXP group next time. That's what they are for.
