Hi

I have for some time been using the this tool (from PowerToys for
WinXP) which is particularly useful in my situation.
However, I need to "re-install/repair" it after EVERY single boot.
Immediately after the computer start-up, the SFUS will not work. When I
start to "re-install" it, a message comes up saying it "already exists,
would you like to replace it?".
After answering "Yes", I can readily proceed with the installation
(including all sub-features) and everything works fine until the next
boot.
As the re-install takes less than 30 seconds, this is no major
hardship. Nevertheless, I would like to know if this is more indicative
of a problem on my computer than of a bug in SFUS.
Anybody know what`s going on here?

TIA
Paul

First I've heard of this. Run line 54 (right hand side):

Thanks for your reply, Kelly
However, I`m a little confused: line 54 (RHS) shows TWO options--either
Save settings on exit or Don`t Save. Can you please let me know WHICH
of these you believe is more appropriate as a remedy.
In addition, there doesn't seem to be anything to RUN (as you
suggested). Are you saying to just Modify the registry according to the
options shown?

FYI, the registry settings on my computer are currently:

HKCU.....Explorer: NoSaveSettings 0
HKLM.....Run No Data corresponding to
"SystemTray"="SysTray.Exe"

TIA

Hi Kelly
Well, the GOOD news is that I solved my problem with SFUS and it's now
working just as it should.
The BAD news is that I almost feel too embarassed to admit what was
wrong.
Anyway, today I just happened to be browsing through the list of
possible start-up apps in MSCONFIG>StartUp Tab and noticed something in
the Windows/System32 folder called Fast.Exe.
This, along with all but six of the apps in this list, was unchecked
(part of my possibly over-enthusiastic attempts to get the machine to
boot quickly).
As the name "rang a bell", I checked the box and rebooted and, sure
enough, SFUS started to behave completely normally.
OK, so now you know but please keep this confession of mine to
yourself.
Paul
