I am working on a computer that has 192MB RAM and is
running a fresh install of XP HE. The primary use is web
browsing with some scanning using HP Photo and Imaging
software.
The system seems to be using the pagefile quite a bit and
while 192MB is not my preference, I would think it should
be able to handle basic browsing and scanning without a
large amount of swapping. The pagefile is currently set
to start at 192MB with a cap at 384MB. I changed these
settings after the default XP setting of 96MB continually
returned virtual memory warnings.
I would appreciate some feedback on pagefile usage in
general and recommendations on configuring the system's
memory usage to be optimized for programs or system cache.
Thanks.
