I have managed to join my new computer to the office network. (It was the
Norton Security Firewall that was the problem it seems). So I can log in and
the Server H: drive is accessible. Hurrah. The log in procedure is not yet
correct, though. I have to log on to the Local computer domain (Computer
Name-this computer), but I would like to do it the same as the other
computers where I have the network domain in the "log on to" field. Thanks

In that case you need to go into Control Panel > System and on the 'Computer
Name' tab, Press the 'Change' button.

Tick the 'Member of Domain' box, and enter the domain name. You may be asked
for the domain admin's password here.

Note that doing this may have other effects like enforcing policies
restricting what you can and cannot do on the computer. It may also cause
software to be 'push-installed' onto it. I just mention this in case it might
come as an unpleasant surprise!

Afterwards the logon box will have a dropdown allowing you to select either
a local logon or the domain logon.

Hi Ian, Just to let you know that with a bit of "fiddling" all seems to be
working OK, AND I have connected to the remote desktop of our server. (I am
very pleased with myself)!!!!
