It's probably me, and I may have just missed it in the manual/help
pages/this forum whatever, but...........

If I have a production recording system for numbered boxes, how do i
find out how many boxes in any hour, by subtract [Boxcount] from same
filed in the next record. Sort of like a reverse running total!

Assuming readings were taken hourly of course

i.e.

08:00 Box 23
09:00 Box 45 therefore 22 boxes made
10:00 Box 69 therefore 24 boxes made
etc.

I have to invent a production recording syatem, to measure materials
in and goods out to produce efficiences etc.

To make life harder, I don't write in Visual basic. - I can fairly
competently (??) use the features given to me by M/Soft in Access
itself (now in Office XP but started with the Access in Office 97)

You can create a text box in the report or group header
Name: txtMinBoxCount
Control Source: =Min(BoxCount)
Then add a text box to your detail section:
Control Source: =BoxCount - txtMinBoxCount
