Subtotal function with mixed calculations

I have a project plan in Excel which includes task number, subtask, start
and end dates. I was hoping to use Data > SubTotals to add a summary at the
task level that would show the minimum start date and maximum end date for a
given task. Using the the SubTotal function it appears I can choose one or
the other but not both.

Any ideas?

Sort the table, then choose Data>Subtotals
Choose the Min function, and Add subtotal to the Date field
Click OK
Choose Data>Subtotals
Choose the Max function, and Add subtotal to the Date field
Remove the check mark from 'Replace current subtotals'
Click OK
