Submenus don't expand in Start menu

Hello,

I've just installed (for the first time) Windows XP, and I've got a (big)
trouble with the Start menu. When I go in this menu, I cannot expand any
submenu inside. I keep the pointer on the item, I even click, but notthing
happens.
I updated with WindowsUpdate, but same. Any idea ??

Did you do a upgrade from another OS or did you install a clean Version
of WinXP?

As my XP CD can install only from an other OS (?), I had to install Windows
2000, and next Windows XP, with a "clean" install (as said in the setup
process).

I suppose you have already heard about this problem to ask me that ??
