The Windows Defender Beta 2, has this issue, on which the computer will
download the update, once, then again, then again, and again, and again, and
it will not stick. Any help?

And besides this not being the Defender group, IT IS AN EFFIN' BETA!
Beta software only belongs on test machine, no matter how much the
MicroSycophants rant and rave about how good it is.

And with MS's pisspoor track record with security, only fools would
trust them securing their computer from malware.

Yeah, don't be so stupid as to put a BETA on your machine. Solution:
Start/Control Panel/Add Remove programs/Uninstall Defender.

Remove the program, it's Beta. You do know what that means, don't you?

To kurttrail, Steve N. and something called Alias, note this.

IF ONLY CLOSED MINDS CAME WITH CLOSED MOUTHS!!!

I don't understand the belittling of members of this group and how you
expect to help anyone with the p**s poor attitudes you guys use around
here??? Why don't each of you crawl out from under your rocks every once
in a while and realise that people are only asking for help and NOT
criticism from a few jerks who think they have the right to spew their dirt
around when somebody doesn't do things the way you do!!! Get a better life
for your self will you....

Smile God loves you and yes that means you too kurttrail.

LOL! So you think that the computer illiterati should just install Beta
software all willy-nilly?
Why don't each of you crawl out from under your rocks every
once in a while and realise that people are only asking for help

Say you're a doctor, and your patient is complaining of headaches, and
you find out the the poor slob is using a proto-type alarm clock that
bashes him in the head with a hammer. Do you tell the poor slob to give
up using the proto-type alarm clock, or do you tell him to take two
aspirins and call you in the morning?

Same theory applies when it comes to people seeking help with proto-type
(BETA) software. The best advice isn't to treat the symptom, but to
eliminate the cause of the the problem.
and
NOT criticism from a few jerks who think they have the right to spew

LOL! Look who is spewing now! Can anyone spell H Y P O C R I T E?

ROFL! Which god?

Dont install BETA ware on your PC unless you have the knowledge on how
to deal with BETA issues.

Take it easy George. I didn't intend to belittle anyone. Some people
just don't realize what Beta really means. They get offered free
software on the net and don't research it before they get all
click-happy and download everything in sight. Yeah, maybe it was a tad
sarcastic of me but I don't think it deserved the level of your insults.

I upgraded to the newer version of Windows Update and that solved th
problem. How? Go to windows update and let it do its thing. I
asked if I wanted to upgrade to Microsoft Update and I agreed. Note
Microsoft Update, not Windows Update

After installing Microsoft Update, Windows Defender updated normally

Wow, what a bunch of rude people you all are! As far as i'm concerned, every
piece of software is beta! If they keep writing patches or new versions, it's
never finished. I suppose windows validation tools is beta too because it
likes to keep re-installing itself on different computers. How about, gee,
let see if we can get around this problem, try this or this! Not yo' buddy,
your a dumb A**, don't install beta's. Wow, really pathetic. Oh, and I hope
for your sake that their really isn't a God!

Goody two shoes for you! And when you have your next problem with the
BETA crapware developed by the corporation that nurtured the malware
explosion by its pisspoor security track record, please keep in mind,
YOU DESERVE IT!

F&$K OFF!
As far as i'm
concerned, every piece of software is beta!

But the companies that develop software specifically call their software
that is still in development BETA for a reason you dumb schmuck!

It's only a very recent thing for companies, like Google & MS to
actively market their BETAS to the masses.
If they keep writing
patches or new versions, it's never finished. I suppose windows
validation tools is beta too because it likes to keep re-installing
itself on different computers.

No, because it is just another piece of sh*t out of the dungeons of
Redmond. WGA is about the buggiest thing MS has put out since Product
Activation! It is amazing to me that not one state's attorney general
hasn't brought MS to task for it error-prone copy-protection schemes!
How about, gee, let see if we can get
around this problem, try this or this!

Go do that in the right group. This ain't the one for troubleshooting
the Beta Defender.
Not yo' buddy, your a dumb
A**, don't install beta's.

No. I'm an A**hole, and you are just dumb.
Wow, really pathetic.

What is pathetic is helping to encourage people that using beta software
is cool to do by every Tom, Dick, and Jane that owns a computer.
Oh, and I hope for
your sake that their really isn't a God!

ROFL! And how do you know that your god doesn't agree with me, that the
computer masses shouldn't be conditioned to run Beta software? For all
you know, YOU may be the heretic in your god's eyes, just like GWB is a
heretic in his god's eyes!

Wow, Kurt, you have alot of issues. If you are so upset at Microsoft and
Windows, why do you use it? Go get a Mac or fiddle with Linux. Hey, I can
respect your opinions. We all can't be the same (thank God, oops, I mean the
spirits or the maker or what ever) Why the anger, sheesh. And even if the
software is beta, there is usually some kind of fix for everything such as
that Windows Defender problem. As for my question about the search, MS did
change it. I just wanted to know why. Oh, and by the way, how oldare you? Are
you married? Got kids? just curious..... Have a nice day. If you can.

LOL! I can speak on just about any issue you care to discuss.
If you are so upset at Microsoft
and Windows, why do you use it?

Because that's what I know. My hardware on my main machine will only
run Windows, and same applies to all the software I've purchased so the
last decade.
Go get a Mac or fiddle with Linux.

I have Linux on my test machine, so you can keep your UNSOLICITED advice
to yourself.
Hey, I can respect your opinions.

Since I willing to explain them at length, you should.
We all can't be the same (thank
God, oops, I mean the spirits or the maker or what ever) Why the

I'm not angry at all. That is your erroneous assumption.
And even if the software is beta, there is usually

problem.

The best answer for the multitudes of the computer illiterati is to at
the very least wait until software is out of beta.

Hell, some of the biggest IT departments around the world wouldn't ever
consider running any MS software title until it is in Service Pack 2!

So when it comes to answering beta questions on a software title that
has NOTHING to do with this particular group, the BEST answer is to tell
the moron using BETA software to stop hitting their head with a hammer.
As for my question about the search, MS did change it. I
just wanted to know why. Oh, and by the way, how oldare you? Are you
married? Got kids? just curious..... Have a nice day. If you can.

Actually, I was not the one with the defender issue. No, I don't have any
beta's installed on my machines. (and I have many). I just wanted to know
what's up with the Windows search panel in Internet Explorer. Any version,
Win98 and up. It changed and it sucks! I liked the old way. Seems as though
they "dumbed" it down for some reason.

Now there my friends is a more appropriate answer to a simple question.
Read it over and over again until you figure out what a proper response is
instead of , "only fools would trust them securing their computer from
malware." and, "don't be so stupid as to put a BETA on your machine" and,
"Remove the program, it's Beta. You do know what that means, don't you?".
How hard can it be? Don't you see the ignorance in your replies?
