Hi,

I did a migration from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003. I'm having some
problems with some of the
Outlook settings and I don't know if it's Outlook or Exchange. For example
my contacts, I can see
them in Outlook but when I go to send an email and go to my contacts folder
there not there. I also
can't open attachments on some users w/s. And my tasks are being deleted
when completed and they
don't seem to be in the right place as well. I use Exchange internally so
everyone can access each others
stuff like tasks, and calenders, all was working fine till the migration.
And I have one calendar in the public
folder that one user can't view.

Thanks in advance, Craig

Hi Craig,

I noticed that you have submitted a similar post regarding the
Exchange/Outlook-client problems. You encounter a lot of abnormal behaviors
after migrated SBS 5.5 to SBS 2003. They seem to be caused by the migration
and a little complex. So I think our public newsgroup is not the proper
place to deal with such issue, also the problem on your production server
maybe time-critical to your business. Therefore, it is recommended that you
contact your local Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) via telephone
so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist you recover the server
in a more efficient manner. Please be advised that contacting phone support
will be a charged call.

To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a
look at the web site listed below.

If you are outside the US please see http://support.microsoft.com for
regional support phone numbers.

Here I'd still like to address some of your questions.

1. Cannot see contact in Outlook address book.

Right-click the contact folder, and then select properties/Outlook address.
Check option "show this folder in Outlook address book"

2. Cannot open attachment on some users.

Try to log on OWA, can you open attachment in these users' mailbox? If the
problem only occurs on some particular Outlook client, please try to change
the temp folder of Outlook.

3. Cannot see completed tasks.

The completed tasks should still remain in the task list unless you remove
it manually. So please verify the view setting to make sure you did not
filter out the completed tasks.

Right-click on the task pane, select Filter in the popup menu. Check the
filter setting to view all tasks.

4. A use cannot view a contact folder in public folder.

Have the user log on OWA, could he see this folder then? Does this problem
only occur on this particular user? If sol, please also check the
permission setting on this (public) contact folder.

Log on Outlook by using the folder owner account, or open ESM by using
Exchange admin account. Open the properties pane of this folder and verify
the permission setting.

Please separate each question in one post next time. This will lessen the
confusion for both of us, as well as ensure that our results are accurate
and not a result of a test for a different question.

Hope the information helps.

Pat Cai
