Stray characters in spellcheck

I just upgraded to PowerPoint 2002. When I spell check, it usually puts some
stray characters (like a square and and *) in the "change to" box, and
inserts them in my presentation, too.
How can I make it stop doing that?

Thanks in advance ... WLT28

Also, I just went to FORMAT, then FONT, and all of my fonts look something
like "T!! [square]".

How do I get my fonts straightened out? Help, please?

First, I'd shut down the PC, walk around the house three times, then restart the
PC.

Next, make sure that you've got a printer installed and set as default (not a fax
driver or other weirdness, a real printer driver - don't need a real printer, just
make Windows think it's there).

See if that helps.
