Good Afternoon,
I am experiencing a problem with the startup time of my
computer with XP Pro installed. It used 1 minute to
startup but now it takes several minutes. The concern is
that it freezes my desktop for 2 min's while
doing "something" that I cannot determine on my own,
which is why I'm here seeking some expert advice.
The delay starts after the startup folder programs are
fully loaded. There appears to be hard drive activity
during the delay as well. In fact, the system cannot
dial up my DSL connection until after that activity stops.
I have tried disabling the startup program folder group
via msconfig, and also disabled VM Ware services, Index
Service, System Restore, and the Page File with no
success.
It might be an issue which is caused by DX 9.0b, however
I"m not certain of this, otherwise I would ask them in
that NG.
All opinions and suggestions are welcome. Please feel
free to post your thoughts on this issue. There's
nothing I won't be willing to try to resolve it.
If you have experienced this problem, please share it in
this thread. Lets see if we can find a common
denominator.
Thanks in advance,
Jamie Stevens.
