Hi all. This might sound a bit trivial, but finding the
solution is driving me completely crazy. I turned on my
computer today, and noticed that when I drag and drop
icons around on my desktop, or in other folders, they no
longer have that ghost look to them as they are being
dragged. I don't know if I described what's going on too
well. I tried looking for a setting that might have been
tweaked, but didn't find anything out of the ordinary. I
haven't installed anything new or done any modifications
to the computer lately, so I don't know what it could be.
If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks, Diana

Hi,

Please follow both these methods.

Method 1:
========
1. Right click Desktop -> Properties
2. This would open the Display properties window
3. Select "Appearance" tab
4. Click on the "Effects..." button
5. See if the check box for "Show Windows contents while dragging" is
checked. If not please check it.
6. Click OK
7. On the Display properties window, click Apply and then click OK.
8. Please logoff and logon

Method 2:
========
1. Click Start -> Run
2. Type "sysdm.cpl" (without quotes) and click OK.
3. In the System Properties windows select Advanced tab
4. Click Settings button under Performance.
5. In the Performance Options window, on the Visual Effects tab, under
"Custom" see if the check box for "Show Windows contents while dragging"
is checked. If not please check it.
6. Click OK
7. On the System Properties window, click Apply and then click OK.
8. Please logoff and logon

Hope this helps ...... :)

since you were most likely to help diana, i thought i would give you a shot
here.

when i create or even open an existing Word document a ghost icon is
automatically created. the icons normally go away after i close the
document. recently while in the creating stages of a Word document i came to
decide that i didn't need to create the document so i deleted it. however,
this ghost icon for this doc stuck around and is still on my desktop. it
won't let me delete it or even move it into a folder so i don't have to look
at it. how can i remove this icon?
