Hey there,

I'm having a weird excel problem at one of our customers.

They have some excel sheets with a lot of macro's from the head office.
They fill in some numbers and a price comes out. Anyways, the field in
which they have to enter numbers -appear- to be empty, but if you click
them you will see in the formula input field that they do have numbers
in it (no macro's or anything).

Strange thing is this only on one PC. The rest of them works fine. It's
also not a user issue. People there have roaming profiles and on other
PC's it works fine. Also other people on the same computer have the same
issue. It can't be plugin's, there's only one that comes default with
Office. The macro security has been turned down. Office has been removed
and reinstalled. And I tried removing HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office
which didn't help either.

The fields do have a blueish background color. But I don't expect that
to have anything to do with it. If we click the field and enter a number
you will see it, until you go to another field. If you go back to the
field the number will not reappear in the cell, but will be visible in
the formula input thingy.

Any suggestions/ideas are really really welcome.

We also scanned the PC for spy-/adware and virusses. We found nothing.

TIA

It must be getting very late at night, its not ground with froegs in it but
foreground.

Aside from the excel formatting issues others have mentioned, you should
also look at the settings on the video card. Color quality below 16
bits use color tables rather than true color which could result in
colors looking weird. It could also be an out of date video driver.

are the cells formatted
custom ;;; ?

The cells probably are formatted yes. There are a lot of macro's on them
as well.

In reply to Ed, no it's not the colors. Other PC's with the -exact- same
file (it's on a share) have no issues whatsoever. It's only this one
install of Office. It's PC related too, not user. Same profile (roaming)
other PC with same office version gives no problems.

They are using 24b color. Text is supposed to be black (and it is whilst
the field is active/selected). The background is light-blue.

All machines are the same type of Dell's, all ordered at the same time,
so they should be using the same install/drivers.

Will try updating them tho'.

Found the problem. They set up the screen to be 120DPI instead of 96.
After putting it back on 96 everything was fine.

Thanks for the help.
