Strange Delete Function

If I try to delete a file by clicking on and
pressing 'delete' the folder freezes and I have to log
out. Similarly, if I right click on an of my quick launch
icons the same happens. Any suggestions?

It is possible you have a program/s that is accessing
these files, so ctrl/alt/del and make sure they are not
running before you try deleting them.
