storing messages without attachments?

Is it possible to store messages without attachments?
Say, if I email a file in attachment, this file is stored in pst file.
I already have this file stored elsewhere on my computer and need to keep
the mesage itself only for my records.

Open up the message, right-click on the attachment and
choose "remove"
 
Outlook doesn't do this automatically, but there are 3rd party tools that
can help. See http://www.slipstick.com/addins/housekeeping.htm
