stopping an xp install

Ok here is the cluster I am involved with today. I have an xp pro machine that was not functioning properly at all. So I decided to boot from the XP Pro cd and chose to repair the current install. It gets to the product key screen and I enter in the product key and it says it is invalid. Customer told me "I got this from a friend". So what I need to do is stop the current install and get back to the poorly functioning windows to obtain info. Then we will reformat and load XP Pro Retail version. So my question is how do I stop it from going into setup each time I reboot? I have removed the cd and when windows asks for the cd I click cancel. The system reboots and goes back into setup. How can I stop this from happening? Thank you

You'll need a "Full Version" of Windows XP Professional,
then use the new, legitimate XP CD and Product Key to perform
a "Repair Install".
