Although I've set the trigger of a sound file to stop when the icon is
clicked, all that happens is that the sound track is restarted from the
beginning. I've tried all the combinations of options available in
custom animations, but none work. How is this done?

Just out of curiosity, are you using PPT 2002 or 2003? (If I need to test
anything, it's nice to know which version to try it in.)

Also, please tell us exactly what animation/trigger settings you've
specified for the sound file. And is the sound file a WAV, an MP3, a MIDI,
what? How did you insert it into PPT?

Have you tried using the last option (available when you've selected to
animate a multimedia file) on the Add Effect drop down in Custom Animation?

Do you want the sound to actually stop, or do you want it to pause? I think
both are options in that Add Effect thing I described.
