Hi all

I connected one Modem on my PC 's com Port. My windows XP must be found the
modem when i turn on my PC because Modem is turn on. Sometimes i need to
turn off modem on the windows xp running, so the modem device will be hidden
on Device Manager in few minutes. But It is still hidden if modem device
turn on again (The windows XP is running), i need to click "Rescan Hardware"
on Device Manager then the Windows XP will find the modem. Could i let the
windows Xp keep in touch on the modem or stop auto re-scan funtion when i
turn off the modem ? So the list on Device Manager still shows the modem
device even the modem is turn off.

Thanks

Philip

Use Disable on the modem in Device Manager. You'll find that option in the
Properties sheets (right click on modem> properties). To reverse, return
to Properties and remove the check next to Disable. Setting device to
"Disabled" will keep it listed.
