Dear MVPs:

Installation of XP Professional with SP1 on my system has
been unsuccessful and produced several 'blue screen' stop
errors including 0X000000C2, 0X0000004E, 0X0000001A,
0X0000007B, 0X0000008E, 0X00000050, 0X00000023, 0X00000024.

I've utilized 'Troubleshoot Windows XP Professional'
advice from the
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/howto/gettings
tarted/guide/troubleshoot.asp site but to no avail.

My system is a Presario 6010US Minitower with AMD Athlon
XP 1600+ 1.4GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD, 24X CD-RW
and 16XDVD drives, and a 32MB Shared Video RAM.

Would you please suggest ways to achieve a smooth
installation?

I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest
convenience.

Thanks for your assistance.

Gee

Hi Gee,

Multiple blue screens and those error codes make me think that a) the
hardware is misconfigured and b) one or more pieces is failing or has
failed, quite possibly the ram. Tell me, is this a retail version of WinXP
that you are trying to put on a Compaq system? Or is it your product
recovery CD?
