I get this error when re-booting or shutting down system. Cannot get system
to shut down normally. Will boot then go to Chkdsk b/c of abnormal shutdown.

Error points to:
TERMINAL_SERVER_DRIVER_MADE_INCORRECT_MEMORY_REFERENCE

I tried to do a System Restore but it didn't like the restore point..went
back to 16 May...

Not much info found via Google for this..

I have looked at my memory.dmp file with dumpchk and also have run pstat.

error seems to point to ativvaxx.dll BUT this is not newly installed...just
started occurring maybe couple of weeks ago...no new equ installed recently
except for real basic Logitech optical mouse - just added wireless network to
our second computer (not this one)... did some printer and file sharing
things to this one (12-13 May)....

not sure what to do next...try Restore Point earlier than 12 May ?

Have:

Gateway P4 2 Ghz Clock
1 GB memory
XP Pro SP2 updated except for recent MSI installer update
ATI Radeon X1050 using Omega drivers (couldn't get Catalyst to work)

If you need more equ. info please ask...don't want to confuse issue..

Thanks in advance...

ativvaxx.dll 6.14.1.9 Radeon Video Acceleration Universal Driver
And located in these paths:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers =
C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 =
C:\Windows\Driver Cache\i386\sp2.cab
C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\sp2.cab
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\123444cf7557..=
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\123444cf7557..\sp2.cab

If you can't find them in all these paths you need to copy them from another
location like the .CAB folder and copy them to these locations/Paths rather.
Or you can run the updates for the Video Card from here:
http://www2.ati.com/relnotes/catalyst_64_release_notes.html
Please check for your Video Specs don't download any driver.

You receive a Stop error when a driver is not compatible with the Data
Execution Prevention (DEP) feature in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or in Windows
XP Tablet PC Edition 2005
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886348
Look in the event viewer for any error messages(X) that can shed some light
on that issue if you still have trouble.

Drivers where they are supposed to be..except don't know about this here -
don't understand

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\123444cf7557..=
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\123444cf7557..\sp2.cab

My version of ativvaxx.dll is 6.14.10.135

I am not using Catalyst Control Center b/c could not get it to work. New
version of Catalyst is 7.4. I tried 7.3 then gave up and installed Omega
Drivers from here:

http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati/win2k_xp.php

Did not have any problems with this until several weeks ago. Installed ATI
Radeon card back on April 6th.

Have checked event viewer...nothing seems to be showing up. No glaring
errors before Bug check...

Not sure I want to try deinstalling Omega Drivers..to try Catalyst Control
Center to see if it *might* work...

Any ideas/direction to go would be helpful...

Hi R,
I meant with this:
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\123444cf7557..=

This one the serial number will start 16c756 something it will be different
on your machine but in the same directroy looks like a CLSID List.

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\123444cf7557..\sp2.cab
The same with this one what you will see after
SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate =
Try to turn the Show system File ON from the Folder Options by clicking
Tools >> Folder Option >> View >> Select (*) Show Hidden Files and folders.
Don't forget to Turn Them OFF by selecting the Radio Button for (*) Hide
files and folders.
Get the driver again for your Video card from Ati by going to the List ot OS
Product type is Radeon , All In wonder...etc then click the series of your
Card is XL300 or whatever is your Video Card.
Here is the link again:
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
Your message confusing since you said * ATI Radeon X1050 using Omega drivers
(couldn't get Catalyst to work) * and you said you I am not using Catalyst
Control Center b/c could not get it to work, so you need to uninstall the
Catalyst from Add/Remove Programs and Reinstall again.
HTH.
Please let us know.

:

Checked for hidden files in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\
there are none - there are just several directories, called \Default and
\Registered

I don't have Catalyst Control Center installed - I uninstalled it when it
wouldn't work.

Thanks - DC

If not there try to run the update and get the latest updates from MS and
see if that will solve the issue if you have the Video driver installed, I
can't really see other option as we know now the culprit is the Video Card.

Go here get the driver only.
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html

Before doing any thing else go here and follow the instructions.
**You first need to remove all existing video drivers**
http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=20870

This may help.
Good Luck
