I can not get the control tool box or the visual basic tool box to stay
closed. Every time I open a document, these tool box's are open, and in
design/edit mode. How do I get this to go away?
The Control Toolbox toolbar always appears in design mode under the
following circumstances:
- the document contains either an object inserted from the Control
Toolbox or a macro
and
- the macro security level is set to High (or it's set to Medium and
you click the Disable button in the macro warning dialog).
If you don't have any controls in the document, and you don't know or
don't care what macros are in it, you can "clean" the document by
saving it as Rich Text Format (change the "Save as type" box in the
File > Save As dialog), closing and reopening the RTF file, and saving
it again as a Word (.doc) file.
If it has macros and you need them, then the macros should be moved to
the template on which the document is based. Then you'll need to do
the RTF cleaning routine on the document (even if you remove all
macros from the document, Word doesn't "forget" they were there).
