Stop codes

I am getting the 0x000000A5 stop code when I am trying to install Windows XP. I have a Hewlett Packard Pavilion XT953. I have tried almost everything to try to resolve this issue, such as debugging the hard drive, resetting the defaults in the BIOS...etc..etc... Anyone have any suggestions? I believe I need a BIOS update(not sure though), but I have no idea where to get the kind I need... any help is greatly appreciated.

The following link offers a work-around that doesn't involve a bios update
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314830. It also provides more detail,
possibly more than you want, on how and why the error occurs.

To get a bios update, you need to speak to HP support and see if they have
one available, or can tell you where to get one from.
