Stop: C0000218 {Registry File Failure}

I am trying to find out how to fix this problem -

"Stop: C0000218 {Registry File Failure}"

on my win2000 computer but the only instructions I can
find are on xp at this url
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;830084

that reads at the bottom of the page for xp pro and xp
home.

I need some clarification on weather or not I should try
this on my win2000 machine.
