still wont repair

on the recovery menu....
i only have 3 options
1.. set up xp windows
2..R for recovery of windows
3.. to quit Set up with out installing Xp windows
i do have the home verision of xp
maybe i am booting up incorrectly ?

That's correct

to perform a repair installation select : setup windows

then the installer should detect windows and ask you if you want to repair
the installation

at that point select "yes"
 
Hi Phildo
the problem i have now is
i continue onto the set up Xp windows as mentioned
i have the blue screen showing
1. set up windows
2. crete a partion
3. delete a partion
But now recieve this error message below all of this saying
Unknown disk.....there is no disk in the drive....how can that be when its
booted up from that drive to get where it is now?
so confusing...any advise would help

OK

you have booted from the CD
but the HD is not detected

it may now be dead...but see if you can get it detected in the bios

if the hd dead thats means its finished for good? need to buy a new 1 ?
i will try looking for it in the bios
