It's almost 18 of March and there is still no sign of Vista SP1...
How it will be distributed?

For those who have to have it NOW, you will have to wait until 1PM PST,
March 18th which is 25 hours from now. Course, if you were prudent, you
would wait and see what problems others are having before installing it
but YMMV.

BTW guys...now would be a great time for some unscrupulous cad to send out a
bulk e-mail stating the SP1 is now available for release from their site.
Be careful out there!

That's because it's not March 18 yet.

The same way they always have been. Windows Update.

Really? How do you explain that I got XP's SP2 in the post from
Microsoft without going anywhere near Windows Update?

Gee I don't know - maybe you ordered it? Do you not remember?

Of course I remember. I was correcting what you posted and later
snipped, above, where you wrote, and I quote "always". It would be nice
if a complete SP1 could be ordered like SP2 was with XP as so many
people went out and bought Vista with SP nada over the last year.
Slipstreaming, etc.

How stupid are you, huh?
Hahaha...don't answer...we already know!

I'm not seeing Vista SP1 neither. As far as I know I meet all the standards
for hardware drivers. I did have an issue with SoundBlaster driver, this has
been corrected by updating the card and drivers to the proper version.

I have no issues with drivers in article 948343. If there are any other
issues on my system I have no idea what they are. All update, required and
optional, have been installed via Windows Update

Don't feel alone out there. I'm still waiting for Windows Update myself.
I've went through device manager and used the update driver utility to check
all of my drivers and all say best driver is installed. I guess we just
have to be patient.

This article states that a UPS connected via serial cable must be
disconnected. It does not state that a UPS connected via a USB cable needs
to be disconnected.

In fact, I left my APC UPS connected (via USB) during the upgrade with nary
a problem.

I'm glad it worked for you but until I disconnected my USB connections,
update would not show SP1.

Then you had another device connected via USB that was affecting the update
opportunity. It was not the APC UPS.
