Hi,

Sorry about this.

Last time ill break a thread.

Full info of my problem.

4 HDD's / 2 CD drives.

Primary master (boot)
Primary slave (160 gig store)
Secondary master (cd1)
Secondary slave (cd2)
2 HDD's on Promise card

Windows XP started to go funky on me.....so i decided to
do a repair operation with the XP disc. Allowed the
process to complete.....booted and then installed SP1a. I
hadnt looked at my drives at this stage......

When i looked at my drives, all were there except this 160
gig store drive. When i look in my disk management, i see
153 gig of unallocated space ?

This drive was working perfrctly just before i applied the
repair operation.

Believe it or not, i was preparing to do a full backup
onto the 2 drives on the promise card after the repair.

Really need help. Sorrry to hark on, you have all been
good help so far.

Andrew

I'm thinking no one has really answered this because there isn't really
an answer. It just doesn't make sense. If you followed everything
correctly, there should be no data loss and everything should be showing
up properly.

I suggested hooking up the drive you think is messed up to another
computer and see if it shows the data there. You may need to do this in
order to gain access:

i know Nathan.....i thought it was a straight forard
operation too....i have never had a problem like this
before with any other drives.

I am going to try another machine but i am doubtful.

I might buy one of those usb to ide adaptors....dear god i
hope something works...im so stoopind.

Any more ideas guys?

We could use more info...

What make of drives?...what size?...drive letter's assigned to optical
drives?...file system on each drive?...ever done any BIOS
upgrades?...drives ALWAYS running from Promise controller?

And what did you mean...'xp was running funky'? Why did you reinstall
it?

Put it by itself on the primary controller...set the jumper
correctly...boot into a system disk...see if you can see the data.

Good luck...let us know.

Have a nice week...
