I have reinstalled my system, and cannot find step to have folder view
automatically come up:

roughly: tools, folder options, file types, ??
- either folder, file folder & some selections, along with setting in
"View".

thanks.

Common Tasks, Folders pane and tree view

Common Tasks pane...
[[You can display hyperlinks to common tasks in the left pane of your folder
windows. The links provide quick access to file and folder management
activities and other places on your computer, such as My Computer, Shared
Documents, and My Network Places. Windows displays these links by default,
so they may already be displayed in your folders. If they are not, you can
use Folder Options to enable this feature.]]

Folders pane..
Shows the tree view, with the folders and the [+] sign in the left hand
pane.

tree view
[[A hierarchical representation of the folders, files, disk drives, and
other resources connected to a computer or network. For example, Windows
Explorer uses a tree view to display the resources that are attached to a
computer or a network.]]

A pane is a framed sheet of glass in a window or door.

Windowpane is a pane in a window.

Start | Run | Type: control folders | Click OK |
General tab | Under Tasks, select: Use Windows classic folders

Show common tasks in folders
[[Specifies that hyperlinks to common folder tasks and other places on your
computer are displayed in folders. These links appear in the left pane of
the folder window.]]

Use Windows classic folders
[[Specifies that folder contents are displayed like classic Windows folders,
which means that folder contents do not look and work like Web pages.]]

This will also open Folder Options...

Hi, maybe too much, maybe all relevent, but where had steps listed:
roughly: tools, folder options, file types, ??
mostly think only need fill in the 2 steps where the question marks are.
else I might have to look at for 1/more hours
else, if your steps do same, missing if permanent fix for every time reboots??

may i suggest keystroke sequence in one line to abbreviate to important /
understood steps.

think I have the 2 different locations for classic folders (explorer & cp:
display) all set. thanks.
