Statechangediag C++ Runtime error

One of my colleagues pointed me to this great little tool on the microsoft
website, unfortunately every machine we've installed it on has a Microsoft
Visual C++ error "statechangediag.exe" when we try to examine the system,
anyone know of a fix?

I'm in the same situation - excellent app in theory but refuses to run with
"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Pleasr contact the application's support team for more information".
