Hi

From Start>Run type

msconfig

then click on the startup tab. Uncheck the programs that you don't wany
loading with Windows. Some programs, however, may have the startup settings
within the program itself and may not have entries in msconfig>startup.

I used msconfig to adjust the files/programs used at startup, however, after
the computer re-booted - I found that the shortcuts and software applications
under Programs did not work. How can I select the programs inititiated at
startup without disabling application programs?

trial and error.

..turn one off, restart & try again. if there aren't any errors, then you
know it can be turned off.

turn it back on again & try another one. then turn it back on again & try a
different one.

go through the list one by one to see what you can have turned off & what
you can't.

you might also try google to see what each one does.
