Whatever I choose, nothing happen. I cannot start Windows, allways
shows that menu. It go in circle (I am sorry for not knowing english
well). I have freeware ReadNTFS so I will save important files (from
dos startup disquette). I hed start Operating System CD, I have try
reinstall winxp, but only way of installation is to format disk.
First, I must save files, then I will format disk. Is there any other
way to save files and not format disk (recovery data)?
Thanks for answer.
Here are some suggestions for saving data when Windows will not start:
1. Remove the hard drive and slave it in a working XP machine. Boot into
the working XP install and copy the data over using Windows Explorer.
2. If that isn't possible - you don't have a second computer and/or the
working computer won't boot with the "sick" drive - you can use Knoppix
or a Bart's PE disk.
Knoppix is a Linux distro on a live cd. You will need a computer with
two cd drives, one of which is a cd/dvd-rw OR a usb thumb drive with
enough capacity to hold your data. To get Knoppix, you need a computer
with a fast Internet connection and third-party burning software.
Download the Knoppix .iso from
www.knoppix.net and create your bootable
cd. Then boot with it and it will be able to see the Windows files. If
you are using the usb thumb drive, right-click on its icon (on the
Desktop) to get its properties and uncheck the box that says "Read
Only". Then click on it to open it. Note that the default mouse action
in the window manager used by Knoppix (KDE) is a single click to open
instead of the traditional MS Windows' double-click. Otherwise, use the
K3b burning program to burn the files to cd/dvd-r's.

After you get your data off, make sure your hardware is good on the
troubled computer before you reinstall Windows. There is no point going
through a software solution (Windows) if the hardware is bad.
