I installed XP two weeks ago and it's working well. One
problem has just occurred in the last couple of days. It
has happened following hibernation, so it may be
connected to that?
When I turn the computer on a message says "The system
could not be restarted from its previous location because
the restoration image is corrupt" Underneath this is a
highlighted sentence "Delete restoration data and proceed
to system boot menu".
If I press Enter it continues as normal, but I don't know
why it happens or if I should be doing something else.
Any ideas appreciated.

I think it means the hiberfil.sys is corrupted. The only way to fix this is
to turn off hibernation and if you wish to keep using hibernation in the
future to then turn it back on so it will create a new hiberfil.sys. Open
Control Panel, open Display, go to the Screen Saver tab, click the Power
button under Monitor power, go to the Hibernate tab, remove the check from
Enable hibernation, click apply and ok, reboot, return to the same area,
replace the check, click apply and ok.

If this problem persists, it's likely that you have some application or some
hardware or driver on your system with which this function is incompatible.

By the way, the Hiberfil.sys file is in the root drive , usually the C
drive. If you don't see it, in Explorer go to Tools, select Folder Options,
go to the View tab, place a check next to "Show hidden files and folders and
remove the check next to "Hide protected operating system files" and click
apply and ok. NOTE: I'm providing this information in order to give the
location of the file. Do not delete the file, use the method above as that
is the proper way to remove the file and have it rebuild on its own.
