Help on this would be really appreciated.
I have WinXP home edition SP2 (OEM version), recently while trying to delete
virus software i have encountered the following problem.
When i startup windows it loads the logon screen fine but then when i select
my username it comes up with the following message "This copy of windows must
be activated with microsoft before you can logon do you want to activate
windows now?" If i press yes it starts up and there is nothing on the screen
except a blank blue activate windows box (no space to input anything). If i
click no it just takes me back to the log on screen.
It loads in safe mode fine but i cannot seem to be able to do a system
restore, i have tried this through start/programs etc and through the command
prompt. All my files seem to be fine and i can access them through my
wireless network. But will i be able to log back in as normal ever again?
Would really appreciate any help on this matter. Thankyou in advance for your
time and patience.

Do you have your license for that Window handy? Then use the Telephone Activation method. Have seen this issue a number of times when a illegal key was used to set up the OS.

An illegal wasn't used. This has been working fine i have obviously
inadvertently deleted something i shouldn't have. The product key is stuck to
the computer would this help? Am i able to activate in safe mode if not is
there any other solution. I appreciate your help but this is a legal copy of
windows.
