Startup parameters for Read-Only?

I'm looking for a way to change the default behaviour of opening Word
documents (*.doc). I suspect there are startup parameters that I can add to
the Open command in File Types command within Folder Options. For example:
WinWord.EXE /R or perhaps there is a way to modify the default template.

That way anytime I double-click on a file with a DOC ending it will open the
file in Word as Read-Only.

Hi Dan,

There is no such startup parameter. If you want to read Word documents and
be sure you don't change anything, get the Word Viewer application here:

It would be possible to put an AutoOpen macro in the Normal.dot template to
set each document's read-only status as it opens, but then what would you do
if you actually wanted to use your expensive Word program for its intended
purpose as an editor?
